This primary mess needs to end. As I mentioned before having primaries where the votes don’t count is a waste time and a waste of taxpayers money.
Having the primaries count after all is even worse. This is far from fair. Those who did go and vote did so knowing that their vote most likely wouldn’t count. Many stayed home and didn’t vote for just this reason. Now to say, “well OK we’ll count the vote after all” won’t give those a chance to vote who stayed home. The only fair thing to do is to have the primaries again.
Primaries, though, cost lots of money. According to CNN, to redo the Florida primary would cost $25 Mil dollars. Now thats would be tax payers money. Why should the tax payers have to pay for a new Democratic primary? That’s not fair either.
Is it fair, though, that the delegates in Florida and Michigan won’t count? Nope, that’s not fair either. I think we’re all getting the idea here. The primary system is flawed. These are not just minor flaws, these are major flaws that in my opinion hamper the correct functioning of the democratic system.
Going back to my post on rethinking primaries. Primaries need to be closed and held on one single day. That would be a major step in correcting the system.
